Thursday, July 31st - Convention, Day 2

*Note* This post was written on July 27th

Today is the actual start of the convention! I will learn lots of stuff, do some make & takes, meet new people and have fun! (Since I've never actually been to convention before, I don't really know what will happen, I just have a schedule!)
Here is one of the swaps I made for general swapping:

Supplies: Cardstock: Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango; Ink: Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango; Accessories: dimensionals; Stamps: Wild About You. I have to apologize for the off centered picture. I scanned all my swaps in and didn't really look closely at the scan until now and they are already packed! This turned out to be a very colorful card and I really liked it. I am liking the new In Colors ALOT!!!

Remember...BLOG CANDY IS COMING!

Wednesday, July 30th - Check In Day

*Note* This post was written on July 27th.

If all went well I arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah yesterday! Today is check-in day. Activities for the day include: Swapping, picking up our convention bag (including the new catalog!!), swapping, shopping at memento mall, swapping, touring Stampin' Up!'s facility, did I mention swapping? Today I also get to meet some ladies I have been talking with for a few months on a thread at SCS called Swappers Anonymous (SA). We decided that we needed a swap all to ourselves, so we will be meeting this evening to swap!

Here is the swap I made for my SA swap. I needed to be a fancy fold card, using all current Stampin' Up! supplies. Supplies: Cardstock: Rose Red, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Cutie Pie DSP; Ink: Rose Red, Certainly Celery; Stamps: Sincere Salutations, Doodle This; Accessories: Hemp Twine, Black Brads, Bashful Blue Brads, Tag Corner Punch. The directions for this card can be found on SCS here, it is called a Flap Fold Card. I don't have a coluzzle, so I just used my tag corner punch on the corners and I couldn't find any of the snap closures, so I used to brads with the hemp twine to hold it together. I thought it turned out cute!

Be sure to keep checking back...blog candy is coming!

Where has the time gone? - AND BLOG CANDY ALERT!

Wow! I can't believe it has been almost 3 weeks since my last post! Sheesh! All I can say is, it is summer, I leave for convention in 2 days and we had some unexpected family emergencies. In my "free" time I have been making my convention swaps (or on SCS talking about my convention swaps). In my sleep I have been dreaming about swaps. At work I have been thinking about swaps, so basically, the last few weeks my life has been consumed with swaps! For my SBS sisters, I'm sorry I haven't been visiting your blogs lately, but I promise to catch up with you all after convention!!! For anyone who has visited my blog recently hoping for some updates, I'm sorry, but please check back later this week, I am going to set blogger to update my blog every day while I'm at convention and there will be some blog candy involved as a thank you for continuing to visit while I've been busy with my swaps!!! Disclaimer: I have never scheduled posts before, so if for some reason it doesn't work, I will get them all posted when I return, but I think its pretty simple, so unless blogger has a problem, they should be here.

So how about a sneak peak of one of my swaps? On the last night of convention I going travel back in time to the 80s, how cool is that? RockyMountainStamper on SCS organized 2 great parties (one on Friday Night and one on Saturday Night). And since Stampin' Up! is celebrating 20 years, we are going back 20 years to the 80s. Part of that nights events is doing a shoebox swap with about 11 people. This is the swap I designed for it. I tried to make it as simple as possible, since I have to pack all the supplies to make it, I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Here is what I used: Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red(new In Color), Tangerine Tango (new In Color), Whisper White; Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red and Tangerine Tango; Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Twill Tape, Vintage Brads, Tag Punch; Stamps: Fall Flair, Sincere Salutations, Twill Background.

OK, I"ll be setting up my posts for Wednesday, July 30th through Saturday, August 2nd. Blog Candy will be mention on one of those days, but you have to check back and see which day! Mwahahaha!!

I can't believe it!

Well, my little baby niece turned 18 last week! (insert sobs here!) Sadly she lives 1,000 miles a way and I haven't seen her since Christmas, but I did make her this card. She loves pink, or at least she did 6 months ago! This card started out very different because the base and the layers were from a card I was supposed to make at card club with my upline, but I didn't really like the stamp set and decided I would use my own, and when I got home I knew I had to use a bella for her card! It's perfect! Stamps are Stamping Bella's ipodabella and Happy Birthday, SU's Brushstroke Numbers and Perfect Fit Stampin' Around Wheel; Cardstock is Confetti White and Pretty in Pink; Ink is Pretty in Pink, Bashfully Blue, Barely Banana, Creamy Carmel and Copic Skin White. I used a Silver Glitter Gel Pen for the Ipod; I used Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds for the "fur" and misc flowers and bling brads. The white cardstock with the Bella is distressed with distressing tool. I just loved this card, almost hated to send it out, but, what am I going to do with a card that says happy birthday and 18? I hope she liked it (and got it!)
Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! We did absolutely nothing on the 4th of July! (Well I worked on more swaps for convention!) It was great (except my hubby was still recovering from an awful cold he had).

New to Me Color Combo

I needed a sympathy card and didn't have much time to design it so I went to my SU color wheel and found this combination and I have to say I love it! It is Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow and Barley Banana. I also used Whisper White Cardstock. I used my Vases in Vogue stamp set and colored the stamps using Stampin' Write Markers. The sympathy stamp is Hero Arts. I foresee using this color combo a lot! Chocolate chip is my favorite! I can't believe I didn't use any brads or ribbon on this card. I guess you don't have to use them all the time! Why didn't anyone ever tell me that?

Last weekend I was able to complete a lot of stampin projects. As I've mentioned in previous posts I am headed to the SU convention at the end of this month (woo hoo!) and I've been working on the swaps for that. I am getting very close to being done and ready for Salt Lake City! I promise to post pictures of all my creations after convention!
