Get Well Soon!

I'm sort of in a funk lately, I don't think I've made anything in the last week, mostly because I haven't been feeling well. I do have a card I don't think I posted before though. I made this a couple weeks ago for a friend that had some surgery and used mostly rub-ons! Perfect Plum is the base and then I cuttlebuged a piece of Pale Plum. I used another perfect Plum for the get well sentiment (non-SU) which was stamped using White Craft Ink. I do really like these rub-0ns. I know I've said it before, but it deserves repeating. Plus, this is the first card I made using them and it was easy to use them on cardstock too!

WE HAVE A WINNER!

And the winner of my first blog candy give away is:

~michelle~

Congratulations, Michelle! I emailed you about your addy!

To be fair I printed out the comments and cut out each one. I placed them all in a shoe box and had my 2.5 year old dd pick one. It took a while because she wanted to play with it and she kept pulling out several at a time, but eventually she did just pull out one! This was fun! Thanks for visiting and commenting!

Magnolia Stamps!

OK, I'm sure you've all seen these adorable Tilda stamps? I've seen them on some of the blogs I frequent and decided to try to get a couple. I found them for sale on http://www.magnolia.nu/ and ordered some. I couldn't believe when they arrived in my mailbox a week after I ordered them! They came all the way from Sweden, how cool is that? I finally got a chance this weekend to play with them! I colored her in using my watercolor pencils first, then I picked the papers. I used my blender pens to blend the colors. I stamped Tilda on Whisper White and then matted it on Bashful Blue, I used Brilliant Blue as the base, the striped is from a pack of DCWV paper I have, and the flowers are from a pack I bought at Archiver's, sorry don't know the brand. Let me just tell you about the location of the flowers. I pulled this little pouch out, that holds the flowers, and I was going to grab the blue one to see if I liked it, well I grabbed the blue and white and they fell on the card, literally in the place they are right now! I really liked how they looked and decided to leave them there! That was really cool!.

Next I used another one I bought to make my DD's Easter Card:

This one was a little simpler. I used my Creative Memories cutting system to do the ovals. The largest oval is Pretty in Pink, the next oval is Spring Fling Designer Series Paper and the small oval is Whisper White. Originally I was going to layer these evenly one on top of the other, but I wanted more of the DS paper. The base of the card is Sage Shadow. Isn't she cute?
Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We enjoyed the time with our family! And now it is snowing!

Happy Easter and Blog Candy

I saw these Peppermint Patty baskets on Kathleen's blog a few weeks ago and knew that I wanted to use them for my Easter table. The tutorial can be found on Cambria's blog. They are so easy to make, and they don't take too much paper. Of course, I didn't do the Peppermint Patties. I just put some grass, an Easter Egg with jelly beans and put a Lindt Chocolate Carrot in there and they fit perfectly. I used Sage Shadow cardstock, Pretty in Pink ribbon and Spring Fling Designer Series Paper. I used my tag punches to make little tags to put everyone's name on. These will be my party favor/place cards for my table. They turned out really cute!
Previously I mentioned I would give away some blog candy when I had 3,000 visitors, well that time has come! Yay! So I have some goodies to give! This includes the following: Stampin' Up! On Board Art Journal 5x5, Stampin' Up! Birthday Whimsy stamp set; (the rest is non-Stampin' Up! Alphabet letter stickers, twill ribbon, flowers, brads, a Keepsake Display Box, and Kaleidacolor - Autumn Leaves Inkpad. What do you think? You wanna win this? If so, just leave a comment on this post between now and midnight EST, Tuesday, March 25th and I will pick a winner on the 26th!

Happy Hellos!

I just love the Berry Bliss paper in the current SU catalog! I finally got some in the other day and I took the opportunity to make a criss-cross card.

I used chocolate chip cardstock as the base and pretty in pink with naturals ivory for he insert and the scallop circle. Chocolate chip ink to stamp the Happy Hellos and chocolate chip ribbon across the front. I distressed the insert with, yep, you guessed it, chocolate chip...(why do I have the sudden urge for cookies and milk?) I've forgotten how much I like doing these criss-cross cards! If you have not made one of these yet, you must go here and get the tutorial!

Sale-A-Bration

At first I wasn't very excited about SU's Sale-A-Bration brochure, but, as always, it grew on me! One of the items I didn't particularly care for was the rub-ons. I never really liked them before and I didn't think that would change because it was Stampin' Up! I was wrong! I decided I needed to give them a try, and I am very pleased with the end result! So far I have only used them on a glass jar, but I am looking forward to using them on my scrapbooks and anything else that comes along! My first little project with the rub-ons was to make a pen holder. I just wanted to see what they were capable of. I used a marzetti (sp?) salad dressing jar that I had sitting around and placed a few of the rub-ons around it. Then I tied a bow using some Wild Wasabi ribbon I had. It is really cute! This has to be the easies thing I ever made! I'm so excited! Yay! I only got one set of these out of the Sale-A-Bration brochure, I hope I don't regret that!

On another note, why is it that my UPS man cannot get here until late afternoon? Doesn't he understand my daughter naps from 1 - 3 and if I had my deliver here before then I might actually be able to do something with it today? Why are my needs not being met? Does he not care? Apparently not! Oh well, life goes on =-) On a happy note, I got chocolate in the mail today!!! When we went to Hawaii this year I purchased a package of pens to give out as souvenirs and when I got home, none of the pens worked. I called Hilo Hattie and they said they would credit me with the amount of money I spent on the pens, but I didn't want the money, I wanted working pens!!! So they told me I could send them back and they would send replacement pens. They arrived today and the nice lady sent me a box of chocolate for my troubles!! How cool is that? They also gave me 20% off the next time I am in their store...which may be never, I don't know, but the thought is nice! Sadly though, the pens still do not work. I think I may try to find refills for them myself. They weren't very expensive, but I kind of expected them to last a couple days! I am happy though, they tried to rectify the situation and that is what is important to me! Wow, I really went off on some tangents today didn't I? Thanks for reading! (Send some delivery vibes to my UPS guy! Thanks!!)

Updated - Thanks for the delivery vibes! He came at 3:00 exactly and my daughter slept for another 45 minutes! I was able to mount 2 of my Sale-A-Bration sets and use them on a card, I'll post it later =-)

Finally Time to Scrapbook!

I have been way behind on my scrapbooking, so I decided to take advantage of a crop at my LSS this weekend to catch up a bit. To tell you how far behind I am, I had pictures from March 2007 to scrapbook! I wanted to share a few of my favorite pages that I did. I hope the come across OK, I covered up most of the pictures because I prefer not to post our personal pictures, just a personal preference. The first one was from the 500 Festival Parade last year. We go every year with my Mom and her husband, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fun! Usually there are a few celebrities, last year we saw Patrick Dempsey and McSteamy, I don't know what his real name is! Gene Simmons was there too. We usually get seats in the front so we are very close, it is a lot of fun. I did rain, but it stopped by the time the parade started and we were able to enjoy all the floats and bands! Next page is from DD's birthday, you'll have to imagine a 2 year old with cake all over their face for this one! For the ribbon I just used white grosgrain and colored the sides using a SU Marker. I used my cuttlebug to do the Yummy Cake and I used my wavy creative memories cutter to do the mat for the picture in the middle. I love this page because it is purple! Sometimes I like to put a lot of embellishments on the pages I do, but Friday night I was just focused on getting pages done and not really worried about embellishments. I am pretty pleased how they turned out. This next one isn't one of my favorites, but I wanted to post another layout that you can actually see the pictures! Last years vacation was camping up in Mackinaw City, Michigan. While there we went to the Upper Peninsula and it was so beautiful. One of the places we visited was Tahquamenon Falls. It is no Niagara Falls, but it was beautiful. I was able to get about 12 pages done Friday night. I am at about June for my DD's scrapbook, then I have to go back and scrapbook our vacations last year and this year. I want to keep up to date with my DD's scrapbook as much as possible, so my goal has been to be completed with the previous year,
by her birthday, so I have a couple months to do that! I may need one more crop night at the LSS! More exciting news is that I registered for a weekend crop they are doing in October! It is at a local retreat center, they had one in February, but I missed it because we were in Hawaii (that 's OK!), but I signed up for the next one and I think that will be so much fun!

Easter Invite!

This is what I came up with for inviting my family to Easter Dinner.
I wanted something very simple. I used Perfect Plum base and stamped You're Invited in White Craft Ink. The Egg stamp is a Stampendous stamp I bought at Archiver's a couple of weeks ago. I colored the egg with my watercolor pencils. I used my Creative Memories cutter to cut the ovals in white and Pale Plum.
On the inside I just stamped a small piece of cardstock and wrote in the information.
It is starting to warm up a little bit in our neck of the woods! Yay! I will be so glad when spring gets here.

Happy Easter!

I made this Easter card a couple weeks ago to demonstrate at a workshop and I liked it so much I decided to make several versions of it!

I used Pretty in Pink as the base and then Sage Shadow and Spring Fling Designer Series Paper. I stamped the Never Ending Joy stamp in versamark on white paper and used Stampin' Pastels and sponged the colors over the images. I just loved the colors. My next version I used an image I received from my Secret Sister, Tina:

I colored the bunny in with my water color pencils and used my creative memories cutting system to cut the ovals. I bought a little package of flowers at Archiver's, so I put one in the corner. The Happy Easter stamp is a Stampendous stamp that I also purchased at Archiver's. I put some stickles on the bunny's fluffy tail. My next one I used a cute little House Mouse stamp I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I also colored him with the water color pencils. I am trying to use some of my embellishments that I have been hording.

I have one more to show you because I couldn't pick a favorite, I am showing them all! I felt like I needed to take advantage of the double sided paper. I love easter cards because the colors are so pretty. Now, if we could just get rid of the snow!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Normally I would not make cards for St. Patrick's day (and I probably still won't make a lot), but I found these Studio G stamps at my LSS for $1 so I had to buy them! I made a couple of these cards, one for my SBS2 Secret Sister and an xtra for myself. I used the happy from SU! So Very stamp set. All of the other stamps are the Studio G set. I found some green brads in my stash and put those in the corner. I think it is starting to warm up a little bit! We had sun today and the temperature for tomorrow is supposed to be in the 50s! Yay. Bring on Spring!!!
