I learned a new technique!

I printed out the instructions for this technique from Splitcoast a while back and finally got the time to give it a try! It is the Cracked Glass technique and very easy to do!

I used the Time Well Spent stamp set and colored it in using various colors of purple (my favorite color!) I'm sorry, I forgot to write down which colors they were, but it all colors and paper are Stampin' Up! I used my cuttlebug embossing folder to make the Happy Birthday background. I had a hard time at first cracking the "glass" because I didn't realize just how much you have to bend the paper, so there is the crack across the middle that I didn't really want, but it is still OK. This is a great technique! I sent this to my upline for her Birthday card and she really liked it!

Loving the Tri-Fold Cards

OK, I am going crazy for these tri-fold cards! I made three more! Mostly because I realized when I cut a piece of designer series paper for them I could make three from one 12 x 12 sheet! I found this spare sheet in my paper and loved the colors. I know this is SU, I just don't know what it is called and I am sure it is not available. I used the So Many Scallops from Sale-A-Bration. I really liked the way they turned out. I made one Happy Birthday and two Thank Yous! The cool thing about using the double sided paper for these is that you don't have to put something on every page and it still looks cool. Here is the inside of the Thank you cards:

I cut a piece of Very Vanilla for the inside and stamped Thank You. In case you missed my previous post, I will re-post the link for the tutorial for you: Cami's Tri-Fold Card!

Sale-A-Bration Case

I really liked the card that was done using the Merci stamp set in Stampin' Up!'s Sale-A-Bration brochure, so I decided to attempt it. I changed a couple things. I didn't have all the supplies needed to make it exactly. I used Old Olive for the base. I used my SU markers to color in the image and an aqua painter to blend the colors. I tore the edges of the water color paper. I crumpled the Ruby Red and tore some of the edges. I didn't like they way the More Mustard looked behind the watercolor paper, so I decided to use it for the Happy Birthday image. I took some white taffeta ribbon and colored it using my Bordering Blue SU marker. I didn't know where I wanted to put it so I just put it in the corner. All and all I was pleased with this card. I really liked how the water coloring turned out. I don't do that very often, but this image is perfect for that technique. I think I am going to use this card in the workshop I am having next week.

Another Valentine

Here is the valentine I made for my husband. He prefers simple, so I thought this would be perfect for him. the Cardstock is Real Red. I cut the heart shape in Whisper White and stamped the square scalloped image (from SUs Sweet Dreams set) in Real Red and also sponged the edge of the heart. The Love image (from SUs Love Matters set). I used the stained glass technique to color the Love image with my water color pencils. The Ribbon is from Target's $1 spot. I have been wanting to use the Sweet Dreams set and I'm glad I finally got to use it!

I am the type of person that doesn't like to throw things away, that I recieve. Birthday cards, holiday cards, etc. Well last year was my daughters first year in daycare and she recieved Valentines from all the kids. These Valentines have been in a bag and hanging in her room since last Valentine's day because I didn't want to throw them away and I didn't know what to do with them. Finally the idea came for me to scrapbook them. Duh! I don't know why it took me a year to figure that out! I just placed all the Valentines on the page, they actually all fit on one page. Which is cool. Now I can put that in her scrapbook. I didn't spend a lot of time embellishing or anything, I did cut out a double heart using my Creative Memories cutter and put a little journaling on that. I didn't think it really needed anything else.

Bella Birthday

I needed a birthday card for my niece in Florida so I headed over to Splitcoast to find a new technique. And this is what I found: Cami's Tri-Fold Card . It is so easy to do and so very cute! In the tutorial they use a doublesided patterened paper, but I couldn't find any in my stash that I liked for this card so I used Lavendar Lace. The scallop around the window is Pretty in Pink. The happy birthday image is a Bella and stamped in Elegant Eggplant. The ribbon is just some pink ribbon I had, non-SU.

This is what you see when you first open the card. Originally I was going to stamp the butterflies all over the card, then I stopped, I'm glad I did. They are also stamped in Elegant Eggplant and the image is from Time Well Spent. I used my CM cutting system and cut the larger oval in Pretty in Pink and a smaller oval in white and then stamped the Happy Happy Birthday (from one of the All Year Chear sets). Next we have the Bella. She is Ipodabella and you see her face and ipod through the window on the front. I didn't really know what to do with the next page, so I just put some flowers on dimensionals. It looks really cute as you open it up and I think my niece will really like it.

Look What I Got...

My blogger friend and and talented SBS2 sister, Betsy at Betsy's Bit o' Heaven, had a blog candy contest a few weeks ago and guess whose name her son picked out of a hat??? Mine! Yay! This came in the mail while I was on vacation, so I had a nice surprise when I got home! I got a scrapbook, ribbon, chipboard, small gift bag, some of the Angel company's stamps (which I have none of and are very cute), she also sent me a nugget box (say's yummy on the top, yummy indeed!) and a beautiful card. I am so excited! I can't wait until I can start using some of my goodies! I have gotten so much new stuff over the last few weeks between my Secret Sister, an image swap I did and now this blog candy, and I just have not had time to play! I think I am going to ask my DH to take some time with the little one this weekend so that I can have some alone time with my stuff!!! =-) Thanks Betsy for the great stuff, I really appreciate it!
Disclaimer: I am a terrible speller and for some reason the spell check in Blogger has not been working for me the last two posts. If you see misspellings, please forgive me. I really tried to proof and spell correctly!

Valentine Treats!

I've been working on Valentine treats for my daughter's day care for the last few weeks. Luckily, I had most done before going on vacation so I wouldn't have to do a lot of work to assemble them this week. Here is what I came up with:

I used my Creative Memories cutting system for the hearts, did a large heart in red and a smaller heart in pink, then I used thick dimensionals to adhere them together. Inside I put a small kitcat bar and a sucker. I used SU's Happy Heart Day set for the images and some misc red ribbon. I think they turned out pretty cute. It took a while to cut out all the hearts, but since I did it over several weeks time it wasn't so bad. I had to do 23.

I am hoping now I will actually have time to make some cards and do some scrapbooking that is not specific to a holiday. Since Thanksgiving I've been working on Christmas cards, my mom's party and now valentines. Then we had our vacation. I can't wait to get the pictures back from our vacation so I can scrapbook it.
